Ross Dustin was the designer of a one-million-dollar new house that I built in 2000. This house went on to win the Auckland Master Builders, House of the Year 2000, Category 6. I have been building for thirty years and was most impressed with the accurate measuring and detailing of Ross's drawings. This was evident especially as the construction was quite technical. Ross was very professional in his approach to any issues that arose during construction, his ability to liaise between the engineer, the owner, and myself ensured construction went smoothly. Having just emigrated from England we wanted to build a home where we could bring up our little daughter over the next 25 years. We had a clear idea that we wanted an authentic Tuscan villa, not just a couple of features that we often read about in the press. Unfortunately for Ross, these concepts and ideas had to be communicated to him whilst we were still overseas. With great professionalism, patience, and flair he was able to translate this into a set of blueprints. Though his efforts were certainly not restricted to just this final outcome. With great diligence, he worked with all the necessary Engineers to ensure that our application for our Building Permit was "the best and most complete application that has been submitted" to Waitakere District Council in a long time. I commissioned Ross Dustin to design a renovation for an extension of a third bedroom to an existing 2-bedroom, 2-storey residential property. The property is on land that has several constraints due to the current positioning of the house and Council underground easements. Ross was extremely creative with a complex scenario and designed, in my view, the best option for the extension. Ross was extremely thorough and went above and beyond in his communication with me to ensure I was across the process. And as extensions are so expensive, I felt assured with the transparency and how Ross communicated any challenges and issues that would arise. I'm extremely pleased with the design to renovate my property and have highly recommended Ross to anyone who needs an expert in their field. I would like to extend my thanks on the architectural drawings you did for the extensions for my Hobsonville home and for your "after-sales" service. Having been involved with engineering design and manufacture for over 50 years, I am familiar with the measurement and design difficulties encountered when designing an "add-on" to an existing structure. This especially applies to wooden structures where the builders have not strictly adhered to the original plans and where timber size variations are constantly encountered. I am pleased to say that the work you did for me clearly illustrated your understanding of these various possibilities. When the ceilings and wallboards were removed, your drawings and measurements were found to be remarkably accurate and detailed.

I am a widow in my 70's who commissioned Ross to design a new house for me. The brief given was very brief so the final product was very much Ross's creation. He was very easy to deal with and was receptive to any changes I wanted to be made. From an early stage, I wanted the builder involved and Ross was happy for this to occur. The harmonious relationship between the Designer and the Builder made the whole process very stress-free for me. It is also worth noting that the Builder made the comment that Ross's plans were very easy to read, and obviously this had cost savings for me.
